Fail Us

July 13th, 2009 . by Jason

While we were watching the season finale of Here Come the Newlyweds, which featured our friends the Smiths, we started talking about how fun it will be to have a baby and take naps with it.  At the very instant the words flowed out of our mouth a commercial for Indiana Children First came on.  It showed a mother napping with her baby and we both said, “o how cute!”  Then the mother awakens to find her child not breathing and some statistics about babies suffocating and dying in their sleep.  Coincidence?

What is wrong with people in Indiana? That commercial is terrible. Are they just trying to paralyze mothers with fear. I do not like that commercial.

Also, these commercials are sponsored by a crib council that is a national organization for crib sponsors. More infants die by suffocating themselves in a crib than sleeping with thier mothers.

Most babies that die by suffocation die because their parents had too much to drink and brought their babies to bed and/or they were on medications. You’re fine, if you take precautions.
