Imagination

Jack has been playing “pretend” a lot more and it’s been very entertaining to see his imagination develop. The other day I gave Jack a play-doh kit as a reward for being such a good, little passenger on our return flight from Utah. In the kit there were 4 shades of play-doh and multiple molds to create anything and everything you’d need for a picnic. I knew at one point or another Jack was going to mush all of the colors together so I just let him at it. I was watching him from the kitchen and I noticed he wasn’t really using the molds. I tried to show him how they worked but I think he was just too young to be interested. When I came back over to him again, sure enough, he had lumped all of the play-doh colors together into one, large mass. Then I watched as he took an empty play-doh container and topped it with the multi-color lump. At first I thought he was trying to put the play-doh back in the container. But then he pretended to lick the mass. I stepped back for the bigger picture and realized he had created a pretend ice cream cone. I asked him, “Did you make an ice cream cone??” He nodded and smiled very proudly and went back to the pretend licking. Of course a picnic (or any meal!) wouldn’t be a picnic without Jack’s favorite food…ice cream!

And here are some pics I couldn’t resist posting. Jack grabbed my glasses off the night stand and decided to give them a try.  I love it!

Yes, this little man is my sunshine.

I love seeing their imaginations develop! Minnie’s latest games are to drink from cups, play 3 Little Pigs, and dress up. It is so cute!
